FSD won the contract for the electrical installations in the Main Treatment Building (MTB) for Wessex Water’s £50M project of a complete upgrade of Durleigh Water Treatment Centre. Process electrical works started in January 2021 and were substantially completed in June 2021, with 34,000m of cabling installed and tested.
Originally contracted to carry out process electrical works, FSD were also awarded the building services contract to supply lighting and small power to the MTB, including the main ventilation, building perimeter lighting and external road lighting. The MTB also houses a new administration block containing the water treatment centre reception area, welfare facilities, motor control centre, laboratory, main control room and the primary SCADA
The outline electrical design was carried out for Wessex by AECOM. During discussions for the award of the £370,000 Building Services CE, FSD assigned an engineer to review the outline design. Extensive industry experience allowed our designer to minimise the number of cables to areas of plant whilst maintaining resilience. This improvement in design provided Wessex Water with £30,000 of direct savings. FSD installed and connected the main 300mm power supplies to both MCC3 and MCC4, and provided additional cable installation resource from our supply chain; in total providing over 20,000 man-hours of FSD direct site support.
