FSD has undertaken a number of mechanical installation projects for Costain at Minworth STW, Severn Trent’s largest sewage treatment plant, as part of an upgrade programme.
Gas to Grid (£255k): Design and installation of pipework, supports and free issue equipment.
Sludge Transfer Works (£260k): Installation of sludge pumps, supports, and high level pipework on a busy operational site.
Gallery Works (£190k): Installation of stainless steel sludge transfer pipework within galleries.

Gas to Grid: The project was time-critical; the customer depended on gas to grid being delivered on time to qualify for government tariffs. Despite delays to site access, FSD successfully achieved the necessary deadlines and saved time and cost on support design by utilising an alternative support material.
Sludge Transfer Works: FSD managed the works safely without impacting site operations. An additional complexity was Covid-19, necessitating additional measures and revised RAMS. One notable success was the design of high level support to minimise hot works and speed up installation.
Gallery Works: This presented a particular challenge due to confined space working during Covid-19. FSD utilised 3D scanning to identify a route for the pipework through an already congested gallery.
Following the successful delivery of the above works, Costain recommended FSD to odour control specialist Higgins & Hewins, and FSD was contracted to install a stainless steel odour control vessel and new access steelwork.
