FSD were awarded an electrical contract as part of a £60m scheme to upgrade Otterbourne WSW, serving Winchester and the surrounding areas, together with work on nearby boreholes. This phase of the upgrade is phase 2, the installation of two new streams to enhance the treatment process.
FSD were awarded the electrical elements of this upgrade, including high voltage cable installation, LV cable installation, termination and testing, extra low voltage cable, containment, building services including external lighting, and instrumentation installation. Works were carried out across existing sedimentation tanks, boreholes, kiosks, high lift and interstage pump stations, RGF backwash, UV and sampling kiosks, and contact and drainage tanks.

FSD provided design development and support, plus project management and administration. This office support, combined with previous on-site experience, meant FSD could work with all project stakeholders to expedite delivery.
Programme elongation became a significant challenge, which FSD managed through weekly collaboration sessions with GTB to exploit opportunities and maintain progress. Using smaller teams for longer meant that repeated de-mobilisation was mainly avoided, and a flexible approach minimised the electrical impact of delays to other disciplines.
